Do Men Only Like Supermodel Looks?

The following is an excerpt from an article I wrote for Singles Warehouse. You can read the original article here.

Hey beautiful. If you’re wondering, “do men only like supermodel looks?” I want to assure you, they do not. I write about this in Chapter 6 of my book, The Cha Cha Club Dating Man-ifesto, where I discuss “The Beauty Myth” in more detail. The reality is, most men want to date a woman of above-average beauty but not too far above it. If a person is a “7″ on a scale of 1 to 10, they are usually most comfortable dating within 1 point of their own hotness factor. Sure, we all have our celebrity crushes but looks aside, attraction is more than physical beauty. It’s a combination of unique factors that make us fall for a particular person.

Men can crush on a “hot” girl, but know she’s not the whole package. She might be someone to fantasize about or even sleep with, but she’s not girlfriend material. Which means that hotness may get her a date but it can’t get her a relationship. If all she has going for her is looks and she doesn’t have any interesting qualities, she may find herself on a string of dates and hookups and no real relationships. Put another way, the wrapping paper might be nice, but it’s the prize inside that counts. Most men know this.
